Lia Pirili (Lakshmi) discovered her love of yoga as a young teen when she took Sivananda classes in Ottawa. Her meditation practice began with The Art of Living, taking Advanced Courses with founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and his top disciples. Lia reconnected with her Sivananda beginnings when she moved to Kanata in 2002. She then went on to take her teacher training, graduating from the International Sivananda Teachers Training Course in 2007. A devoted student of Yoga, Lia is passionate about everything Yoga and continues her studies with her Acharya (spiritual teacher) Swami Sitaramananda. Lia has also completed Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Bernie Clark of Vancouver and received a Meditation Course Certificate from Sivananda. Lia has recently returned from a trip to India, learning more about yoga and it's practise. While in India she explored some Northern cities and towns, including Varanasi, and then stayed on at the Anand Pakrash Ashram in Rishikesh. She shares her knowledge of Yoga teaching with awareness, integrity and understanding.
Kim Bolton has been a student of yoga for close to a decade. Kim has always been drawn to the positive effects of yoga. Now a mother to 3 young, active boys, Kim uses yoga as her "me" time to help balance out a busy family life. It was in dedicating herself to a more regular yoga practise 2 years ago that motivated her to research ways of bringing yoga into the home and to share the experience with her sons. Eventually her research brought her to the Radiant Child Yoga Program, of which she is now certified. It is Kim's hope in the coming years to share yoga with children of all ages and to eventually become certified to instruct all levels of yoga.
Sharon McMullen
(Shanti) has been practising yoga for 16 years,
received her accreditation as a teacher at the International Sivananda Yoga
Vedanta Centre in Val Morin,
Chandra Stone was first introduced to the world of yoga from a friend who bought her a yoga book over 10 years ago. After looking at the seemingly impossible poses, she decided to try it out on her own by doing a Jane Fonda Yoga video. She was so amazed at how wonderful and relaxed she felt during Savasana she decided to continue her interest and practice by exploring different styles of yoga. These included Power, Hot Power, Prenatal and Hatha. Finally in 2008, after much thought as to what path to take in her life to help others, she decided to get certified in Hatha and Children’s yoga at Upward Dog Yoga Centre. She has been teaching with enjoyment and passion ever since. Chandra’s classes are non-competitive and introspective, with a focus on stilling the mind and connecting with the breath. She encourages students to become aware of their body, mind and breath, helping them to cultivate their sense of self awareness, compassion and light within. Chandra’s intention is to help students attain physical, mental and spiritual well being - and to have fun, smile and laugh along the way!
Amber Bromby began her yogic journey in 2003 after dancing for many years. In 2006 Amber decided to take the teacher training course taught by Yogi Vishvetu, and Chetana Panwar at the Upward Dog Yoga Centre for her own personal growth but quickly realized her past experience in teaching dance and pilates were stepping stones to teaching yoga. For Amber, yoga is a tool to increase energy and strength while bringing peace and balance to our modern lives. She enjoys creating a positive and relaxed atmosphere and hopes to leave her students with the uplifting feeling of accomplishment and peace.
